FAQs

What is DIY-DI?

Do It Yourself Digital Intermediate is a powerful, remote color grading service by Cheeky Monkey Post that allows your entity to use our supercomputers from your desk.

How do I access a remote DIY-DI session?

Please visit out contact us page and we’ll be sure to get in touch with your company!

What is total session space?

This represents the total drive space allocated to the user per session. A project materials space of 5.75TB, a render space of 1.5TB, and a Davinci Resolve Studio cache space of 1.5TB comes to a total session space of 8.75TB. Need more space? Just ask!

Due to the speed of our systems, caching is set to off by default. It can be turned on at any time should the user feel it’s needed.

How do I upload and download my materials?

Log into your Frame.io account and use the Frame.io Transfer App located on the desktop for transferring files in and out of our systems. Alternatively, you can make use of the native Frame.io integration built into Davinci Resolve Studio, but the app is required for RAW files (and is ultimately faster at multi-gigabit speeds).

If you’d prefer the classic method of sending a drive with a pre-paid return shipping label, that can be accommodated as well.

Can I use color grading panels?

Yes! USB color panels compatible with Resolve are also compatible with our DIY-DI service.

Can I use a drawing tablet?

Yes! We recommend that you have the most up-to-date drivers and software installed to ensure compatibility with our systems.

How many monitors can I use?

You can remote one, two, or three edit monitors based on your computer’s hardware. Those monitors can also be simultaneously streamed to your clients as well.

Can I adjust things like monitor resolutions, streaming data rates and color fidelity?

Yes! Remote settings can easily be adjusted from each location to customize the user’s experience.

Is DIY-DI available for long term commitments?

Yes! Entities interested long term services save significantly on DIY-DI rates. Please reach out to us via our Contact Us page for details.
